Bishop Dunne Middle School Golf Team Compete in DPL Championship

Bishop Dunne Middle School Golf Team in Championship

Monday June 8 was another great day for Bishop Dunne’s middle school athletics!

“Congratulations go to our middle school golf team,” Middle School Athletic Director Stephen Guerrero said. “In the DPL city championship tournament Monday at Sherrill Park in Richardson they tied for 1st place shooting a 10 under par (60).”

To break the tie the teams went to the number one handicap hole. The "sudden death" end to the season was close.

“We shot a five and St. Monica shot a four on that hole, making them city champs, and so Bishop Dunne took 2nd place.”

Coach Guerrero is proud of the team and says, “These four 8th graders are ready for Bishop Dunne high school golf with Coach Tom Perez and Coach Kevin Braun.”

Congratulations go to team members Ethan De la Garza, Chance Mulligan, Ben Cores, and Angelo Bianco.

Five  Bishop Dunne Middle School teams made it to the championship games in their sport this past academic year: first was the championship game in football last fall, then the championship game in boys basketball in the winter, then winning the DPL track championship in May, and last week the middle school co-ed soccer team competed in the championship, losing a tough game 0 - 2.

Coach Guerrero is thrilled with his Middle School athletes and encourages them all to "Have a great summer! See you in August."
